Unveiling the 2021 Williams Route 66 Marathon Finisher Medal

The Williams Route 66 Marathon is thrilled to unveil our 2021 finisher medal! This special 15th anniversary medal is the first in a five-year series commemorating historic landmarks along Route 66. First up: Buck Atom, space cowboy!

Buck Atom is the larger-than-life space cowboy located in front of Cosmic Curios on Route 66, and he’s a Route 66 legend. Speaking about partnering with the Williams Route 66 Marathon, Cosmic Curios owner Mary Beth Babcock said, “Buck is thrilled to be partnering with the Route 66 Marathon! As the City of Tulsa continues to open back up and thrive, the Marathon is an excellent way for our community and travelers to be active and meet new people! Tulsa’s tourism is booming and Buck welcomes all Route 66 Marathon participants!”

This year’s special 15th anniversary finisher medal is larger than life, just like Buck himself! It features a spinner specially designed with Buck’s face, as well as a large number 15, to mark the occasion. Participants who indicate that they will be completing their first marathon or half marathon at the Williams Route 66 Marathon at the time of registration will receive a special “My First Marathon” or “My First Half Marathon” medal, which features golden plating. Members of the Marathon Maniacs, Half Fanatics, and 50 States Marathon Club also may choose to receive a special finisher medal in their club colors when they register.
