The Oklahoma Standard is Back!

The Williams Route 66 Marathon is pleased to announce the third medal of the Oklahoma Standard Challenge series for Honor. We’ve teamed up again in 2023 with the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum to demonstrate the resiliency of Oklahomans.

The Oklahoma Standard Challenge is a joint effort between the Williams Route 66 Marathon and the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. To participate, complete the marathon or half marathon at the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and the Williams Route 66 Marathon in the same year and you will automatically be eligible to receive our special Oklahoma Standard Challenge medal when you finish the Challenge at the Route 66 Marathon!

Over the next three years, each medal will highlight one of the three tenants of the Oklahoma Standard – Service, Honor, and Kindness. You will not want to miss out on these special collector edition medals! This year, we focus on Kindness. On April 19, 1995, Oklahomans united in the face of the devastating Oklahoma City bombing, showing up to serve their community in any way they could. That spirit of generosity still lives in Oklahomans today, and we call it the Oklahoma Standard. You can learn more at OklahomaStandard.com.

Ready to register for the Williams Route 66 Marathon and join the Challenge? Register for the Route 66 Marathon here! You do not need to register separately to participate in the Oklahoma Standard Challenge, but you will need to register for the OKC Memorial Marathon separately via their website.

If we have registered to run both marathons already, can we still register for the Oklahoma Standards medal?

If you’ve already registered for both, you’re in!

Is there still a virtual option for this marathon. Unfortunately I will be out of the country for a few years.

    • cheryl on August 9, 2021 at 6:22 pm

We don’t have a virtual option planned

How do you get the medal that says you run both on top of getting the service medal?

I ran the OKC Memorial half- marathon today, and registered for the Route 66 half today. What will I need to do to get the OK standard medal?

    • cheryl on October 7, 2021 at 11:56 am

Finish the marathon or half marathon in our race. OKC will have a tent setup at our post race party with the Oklahoma Standard Medals

What if I missed the tent at the OKC marathon party? Have I missed my chance to get my OK standard medal?

  6. Kristi Hooper on October 30, 2021 at 10:01 pm

I also missed the tent at the OKC marathon. I ran the half marathon. I am also running the half marathon at Route 66. Will I be able to get the OK standard medal?
