“First Mile” event kicks off training season on July 9

Now, your first mile can be your favorite mile – and you don’t have to do it alone. The Williams Route 66 Marathon is partnering with Fleet Feet Sports Tulsa to offer the First Mile event on Monday, July 9. Join walkers and runners of all levels as they commit to a life-changing experience and prepare for the Williams Route 66 Marathon on Nov. 17-18.

The First Mile festivities will begin at 6 p.m. at Fleet Feet Tulsa’s store in the Blue Dome District. Participants can walk or run 1 mile, 2.5 miles or 5 miles as suited for their training level. The kick-off party will also include free food (courtesy of Qdoba), free sno cones from Ice Painters, beer and live music on the course and at the finish line. Guests will be able to learn more about and register for Fleet Feet Tulsa’s various training programs, as well as purchase the official training gear for the Williams Route 66 Marathon.


The weather is supposed to cool off to a high of 90 degrees Monday but as far as we are concerned that is still hot enough to bring out Tulsa's coolest finish line, BouncePro's Dual Lane Inflatable Slip and Slide! 

As long as you are wet you might as well take a trip or two down the 19' Dual Lane Water Slide.

And you can dry off (partially) with this free hand towel from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma. 


Fleet Feet Tulsa offers the official training programs of the Williams Route 66 Marathon, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma. Group programs are available to prepare both walkers and runners to participate in the following Route 66 Marathon events on Nov. 17-18:

Marathon (26.2 miles)
Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
3 to 5 Person Marathon Relay (approx. 5 miles/leg)
5K Run and Walk (3.1 miles)
1-Mile Run and Walk
