Whether in the name of corporate wellness or coffee shop bragging rights, the second annual Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma Corporate Challenge at the 2013 Williams Route 66 Marathon is underway. Grab your lunch buddies and start training and have the folks in the building next door shaking in their dri-fits. Besides, you’ve been looking to buy those highlighter yellow shoes for months, and now you have a legit reason.
This year’s BCBSOK Corporate Challenge has six divisions based on each company’s total number of Oklahoma-based employees. Divisions are: 1-49, 50-99, 100-249, 250-299 and 1,000 or more. Corporate challenge teams are awarded points in three areas: participation, performance and fundraising. The fundraising portion of the program benefits the Tulsa Area United Way.
Benefits include access to a special BCBSOK Corporate Challenge VIP area at the finish line with food, beverages, a reception area and more. Extra perks await team captains who each receive a running jacket and an invitation for two to the pre-marathon VIP party for sponsors and special marathon guests with great food, drinks and entertainment.
The winning team in each division receives the beautiful Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma Cup, a finely crafted trophy emblazoned with the team’s name. The traveling trophy resides at the victor’s place of business until the following November. The 2012 winners were the University of Tulsa, AAA of Oklahoma, WPX Energy and YMCA of Greater Tulsa.
