Enthusiastic runner scheduled to participate in Williams Route 66 Marathon
Over the past two years, Dave Mari has started taking running pretty seriously – consistently competing in races and joining various running clubs. To date, Mari has completed an overwhelming number of races: 56 marathons and 67 half marathons.
Mari’s source of encouragement has, in large part, come from Joe Taricani of The Marathon Show, a radio show broadcast online via iTunes. He also benefits from the support offered by the 50 States Marathon Club, Marathon Maniacs and Half Fanatics. From running advice to carpooling, they are always willing to experience the share passion of running together.
So what advice does this elite runner have for the rest of us? “Enjoy and document your journey. Completing all 50 states and/or obtaining maniac stars is a marathon and not a sprint. Why rush it?” says Mari. “Don’t break the bank.”
Join Mari as he returns to Tulsa for the 2012 Williams Route 66 Marathon presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma. “Crowd support is amazing,” said Mari. “Tulsa has a great running community. I appreciate how much the race organizers appreciate and look out for the runners.”
You’ll recognize Mari by his usual Paul Frank monkey T-shirt and the camera in hand.
