Popular blogger and runner trains for 2012 Williams Route 66 Marathon
Jess, the popular runner and blogger who hosts RunWithJess.com, will be making an appearance at the Williams Route 66 Marathon. With 10 half marathons under her belt, this Half Fanatic is excited to travel to Oklahoma for her third full marathon, including the Michelob Ultra Center of the Universe Detour.
Jess is no stranger to endurance training. This past June, she participated in a women’s Ragnar Ultra team in which she ran 33.5 miles over the course of a day and a half. In August, Jess completed her first triathlon, with plans of more in 2013.
“I’m hoping to stretch my miles and try a 50K run,” said Jess. “Eventually I’d like to be able to run the Fall 50 up in Door County, Wisconsin.”
A little over three years ago, Jess’ frequent walks became jogs, and she’s been “chalking up the miles ever since.” A year into her running, she started blogging about her running adventure and weight loss journey through RunWithJess.com. Her blog has become a national success and opened the door to numerous relationships.
So what is Jess looking forward to most about the Williams Route 66 Marathon? “The bling, of course!” exclaimed Jess. “Every year the Route 66 Marathon has incredible finisher’s medals. It’s been on my bucket list to run someday.”
This will be Jess’ first trip to Oklahoma, and her tenth state to run in. While most of her runs are spent in solitude, Jess has recently gained some great running buddies through “The Sole Sisters” running group in Peoria, Illinois.
“I’m definitely a morning runner,” said Jess. “There is no better way to start the day.”
For Jess, races offer excitement, adrenaline, focus and an opportunity for improvement. Not to mention, running is a great way to “keep the weight at bay.” When it comes to cravings, Jess is always looking for oranges following a long run. And yes, Jess, chances are good that there will be oranges at the Williams Route 66 Marathon on Nov. 18.
Come to Tulsa in November and "Run with Jess!"
