Beer, brats and polka at 2011 Williams Route 66 Quarter Marathon

The Williams Route 66 Quarter Marathon events will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15 to help kick off the fall running season, and through a new partnership announced last week, participants will have the opportunity to take part in one of Tulsa’s greatest festivals and traditions – Oktoberfest.

In addition to the recently revealed finisher medal for quarter marathon and “The Double” finishers that incorporates a bottle opener into the design, participants will be treated to a preview of Tulsa Oktoberfest at the Fahr-früm-kwitten post-race party. The finish line festival, hosted by Tulsa Oktobefest, will include a polka band, free beer, pretzel rolls from Siegi’s Sausage Factory, and Oktoberfest mascot Bier Meister on site to congratulate finishers. Additionally, quarter marathon participants will be able to purchase Oktoberfest tickets at the post-race party and receive $5 off their registration for the inaugural Lederhosen-Lauf (run/walk) happening at Oktoberfest on Thursday, Oct. 20.  The Lederhosen Run will finish at the Route 66 Marathon tent at Oktoberfest where finishers will enjoy free beverages after the race.  The Lederhosen-Lauf will feature a four-mile race and one-mile family “Brat-Run.”

The Williams Route 66 Quarter Marathon includes a quarter marathon which is 6.55 miles, a 5K and a one mile fun run. Participants can also earn a free technical running shirt by completing “The Double,” which includes running both the Quarter Marathon and 5K in the same morning.

Online registration for the Williams Route 66 Quarter Marathon is available through October 9. Participants can also register for any races that do not sell out online at packet pickup at St. John Siegfried Health Club on October 13 and 14.
