Andy Derks wins fifth running of Williams Route 66 Marathon, Jerry Faulkner wins half marathon

Andy Derks, 30, won the fifth annual Williams Route 66 Marathon on Sunday, Nov 21, 2010. Andy is a member of the Michelob Ultra Running Team that has participated in every Route 66 Marathon and brought over 30 participants in 2010. Derks finished the 26.2-mile distance with a time of 2:32:29. Additionally, Jerry Faulkner won the half marathon in a time of 1:10:03. The relay team Lohreyders won the marathon relay in 2:28:50.

Previously, Faulkner has won the Williams Route 66 Marathon and the Williams Route 66 Quarter Marathon. He currently holds the record for the Williams Route 66 Quarter Marathon course. Both the first and second finishers of the half marathon are members of the OK Runner team.

Laine Sommers, 25, was the overall female winner of the marathon, with a time of 3:15:33.

Sara Major was the overall female winner of the half marathon, finishing in 1:27:17.

“I ran a full marathon two weeks ago, so I wasn’t sure how it would go today, but it felt pretty good,” Major said. “I’m having a really good season, and this win is a nice surprise.”

The male winner of the 5K finished in 17:22. Hellois Scheeres of Tulsa was the overall female winner of the 5K with a time of 20:39.
